I realized it’s been a while since I posted, so I figured I’d give those interested an update on where I am with my writing.

I’m putting the finishing touches on Call of the Siren, Book 4 in the Demons of Infernum series. (Yes, this is Dagan’s story!) Then it goes off to editing, where it will be polished to a shine. Tentative release date is May 2014. :-)

Up next I’ll be focusing on the remaining two novellas in my Fallen Warriors series. I aim to have those out by the end of this year.

On a personal note, I just finished a creation of an altogether different type: my second child, born just a few weeks ago. She’s turned our worlds upside Ava Newborn Photodown, and already has a very devoted big brother.

Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful, joy-filled 2013!

Update: The winner of the giveaway is Lori Harvey! Congrats, and thanks to all who participated!

Welcome to the “For the Lover of Mythology Giveaway Hop”. For any of you familiar with my work, it’s no surprise to you that I’m participating in this hop. See, I love mythology. I mean, I LOVE it. So much so that I actually majored in Classical Studies as an undergraduate (which for those of you who don’t know is basically the study of Greek, Roman and Egyptian Mythology). So it only made sense that when I thought up my current series, it would be heavily influenced by mythology.

My Demons of Infernum series features a group of half brothers who work as interdimensional bounty hunters for the Council governing travel between dimensions. They are half demons, and each was specifically bred by their evil father to have a unique other half. The series uses a lot of reference to Greek and Egyptian mythology. In the second book in the series, MARK OF THE SYLPH, I even reference the Arthurian legend. See, the hero, Taeg, is on the search for a very powerful weapon: Merlin’s sword.

Here’s a bit more about the story:

MotS-500px

Half-demon Taeg is desperate to free his pregnant sister-in-law, who is spellbound to an indestructible book that will create an army of the undead. He is convinced that an ancient sword can destroy the book and the spell forever, but this relic has been hidden for a millennia by a powerful glamour. The clock begins to run out on his search when an old rival goes after the book and Taeg’s family in his quest for revenge.

Librarian Maya Flores has a secret: she’s immune to magic and is well aware of the supernatural beings prowling the streets of New York City. Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.

Maya is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword. Unfortunately, she wants nothing more than to kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth that not all demons are evil. And the worst part? She might be falling in love with one, too.

Okay, so I’ve been a fan of carnivals ever since I was a kid. They don’t come around too often anymore, but once a year during Halloween we have a carnival and freak show that I love to attend! So I was very excited when I was asked by Paranormal Haven to write a guest post for their Spring Carnival event.

This one is from the viewpoint of Taeg, my hero in MARK OF THE SYLPH. If you have a moment, please stop by and check it out!

Update: Thanks so much to everyone who participated! The winners are as follows:

Mark of the Sylph ~ Natasha Donohoo

For Love of an Angel ~ Lori H.

Welcome to the Love is in the Air Blog Hop, which runs from now through March 31st. My name is Rosalie Lario, and I have a confession: I’m a huge romance buff. (Okay, this is probably pretty obvious, since I write romances.)

Paranormal romance is my favorite genre to write, but when it comes to reading, it really doesn’t matter what the genre is. Give me a romance and I’m there.

So what is it about romance that I find so irresistible? In a word, it’s the hero.

When I read a romance, I’m looking to get swept away by the characters. To become emotionally invested in their journey. My hero doesn’t need to be incredibly handsome or built like an athlete (though I certainly don’t mind it), nor does he have to be the perfect gentleman. But what I do want him to be is real: someone with flaws and insecurities. Someone I can connect with. A hero I can fall in love with.

Just for fun, I thought I’d pick out some of my favorite television heroes and outline which of their characteristics draw me to them:

Dean Winchester – Supernatural. This is probably my favorite character of all time. Not only does he have killer good looks and a smokin’ body, but his humor and wit are unparalleled. The wise-cracking funny guy? I’m so there. And he’s loyal to boot. Nothing will stop him from looking after his younger brother.

Sam Winchester – Supernatural. Getting the sense that I love this show? What Sam lacks in pure wit, he makes up for with both book smarts and street smarts. He’ll take the high road and try to talk himself out of a bad situation, but if that fails, he’s not opposed to resorting to his fists. On a primal level, that turns me on.

Clark Kent – Smallville. What I love so much about this character is his how very human he is, even though technically he’s not. With every decision he makes, he keeps the best interests of those he loves in mind. He’s the ultimate protector, the knight-in-shining-armor.

When dreaming up my DEMONS OF INFERNUM series, I kept all of the above characteristics in mind. The heroes of my series are four half-brothers who are intensely loyal and focused on doing what’s right. No matter what.

MARK OF THE SYLPH is the second book in this series, and it releases on March 26th. It has my favorite type of hero: the wise-cracking smartass.

MotS-500pxLibrarian Maya Flores has a secret: she’s immune to magic and is well aware of the supernatural beings prowling the streets of New York City. Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.

Half-demon Taeg Meyers is desperate to free his pregnant sister-in-law who is spellbound to an indestructible book that will breed an army of the undead if it is not destroyed. He is convinced an ancient sword can break the spell, but this relic has been hidden for millennia by a powerful glamour.

Maya, with her knowledge of all things paranormal, is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword. Unfortunately, she’d rather kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth—not all demons are evil, and she’s falling in love with one.

My FALLEN WARRIORS series features a group of sexy fallen angels. Their kind seeks to destroy the human race, and the Fallen have been cast out due to their protests. They must find nephilim mates in order to preserve their strength and immortality, and together will take on the remainder of their kind in defense of the human race. Read on for a little more about the first book in the series.

Cover Art - 500_650

In a world where angels rule over humans, twelve outcasts dare to defy expectation, warring with their angel brethren to prevent the extinction of humankind.

They are The Fallen.

Michael is one of twelve angels who have been outcast due to their determination to protect humankind. In order to preserve his immortality and strength, he must find a mate with angel blood. Eva Smyth has never believed the propaganda spouted by the Consortium—the elite system of guards put into place once angels took over reign of Earth—but she never expected to learn the angels plan to eradicate all of humankind, or that she herself is part angel. Joining Michael means living a life on the run, at war against the angels and hunted by the Consortium. Eva must decide whether to risk it all…for love of an angel.

IMG_20130210_143157I had the pleasure of attending the Olde City, New Blood Conference in St. Augustine on February 8-10, 2013. It was a weekend of many firsts: my first reader-oriented conference, my first conference as a published author, and my first time to St. Augustine. So I alternated being a drooling fan-girl to awesome authors like Cynthia Eden and Caridad Piñeiro, meeting with some amazing readers and bloggers, and being an awestruck tourist.

The conference took place in a hotel located on beautiful St. Augustine Beach (the picture on the left is of some pretty cool kites floating from the pier right next to the hotel; below is my only shot of the hotel—> author fail, lol). The temperature ranged from low 70s during the day to low 50s at night, which was enough for more than one tourist to bare almost all on the beach. But for this South Florida girl, it was a tad bit chilly, so other than a brief stop on my way out of town, I stayed off the beach.

IMG_20130209_181759

On Saturday, I did a fun meet and greet event by the hotel pool with two other authors: Laura Kaye and Hildie McQueen. Hildie was awesome enough to bring zydeco music…and piña coladas! The pics below illustrate just how much fun it was:

[That's me on the right.]

IMG_20130209_140324

I also got to attend some of the panels. My favorite was Sunday’s ‘Authors In The Audience’ panel, where a large group of authors turned the tables on the audience by asking them questions! A close second was Saturday’s ‘Shifters: Where The Weres Are’ panel, in which the authors discussed the types of shapeshifters they wrote (love me some shifters).

IMG_20130210_102030

Oh, and let’s not forget the charity book signing on Sunday. So many authors in one spot…drool!

IMG_20130210_124852

Besides all the fun conference activities, I took some time to tour the gorgeous sites of Old St. Augustine (some pics below). For anyone who has never been there, I certainly recommend it. What a thrill standing inside buildings that were over 400-years-old! We don’t have too many of those here in Florida. :-)

So, to sum up, I had a blast, I am now a hugely freakish fan of St. Augustine and of all the amazing people I met, and I absolutely cannot wait to go back! Thanks to Jennifer Morris for putting this together, and I hope to see you all next year!

Update: The winner of the Entangled in Love Blog Hop is Melissa Keith! Congrats Melissa, and thanks to everyone for participating!

Welcome to the Entangled In Love Blog Hop, which runs from February 8th to 15th. You’ve got plenty of chances to wins lots of great prizes, so be sure to stop by each site on the hop!

February is the month of love and romance. What better way to celebrate than with books?

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve always snatched up a romance whenever I needed a little pick-me-up, whenever I wanted to experience the magical moment of characters falling in love. As I grew older, my passion switched from historical romance to contemporary, and finally to paranormal, where I’ve remained for the better part of a decade. Something about characters with a little bit ‘extra’ really gets me going. So it was only natural that, when I started writing, I would gravitate to the genre of paranormal romance.

I’m a total sucker for the Beauty and the Beast theme, and you’ll catch a hint of that in my book, Blood of the Demon (Book 1 in my Demons of Infernum series). The hero, Keegan, is a half demon, interdimensional bounty hunter who’s determined not to give in to his attraction to psychometric art gallery owner. Not only because of his half demon heritage, but also because, in order to save the world, he may be forced to kill her. Here’s a little more on the story:

BotD-500pxBLOOD OF THE DEMON, Book 1,

Demons of Infernum

Keegan lives to exact revenge on the evil demon who sired and abused him. When his father devises a plan to bring on the apocalypse, he and his three half-brothers, interdimensional bounty hunters for the Elden Council, are charged with capturing and delivering their father for punishment.

Art gallery owner Brynn Meyers has no idea that her ability to read memories embedded in objects and drain people of their life force means she has demon ancestry. Unfortunately for Brynn, she’s also the key to raising an ancient zombie army, which puts her on every demon’s Most Wanted List.

And no one wants her more than Keegan’s father.

Keegan must protect Brynn from his father by any means necessary, but he’ll have to learn to harness the other half of his genetics—the far deadlier, uncontrollable half—when he starts to fall for the one woman standing between him and the vengeance he so desperately seeks. The one woman he’ll never be able to resist.
