The Fallen Warriors Are Going Underground!

Guess what I’ve been working on lately? 🙂

Yup, I’ve been hard at work on Angel’s Kiss, Book 4 in the Fallen Warriors series, and this time, the Fallen are going underground! Here’s a little blurb to give you some idea of what’s going on:

When fallen angel Jason answers Michael’s summons to an abandoned warehouse in New York City, the last thing he expects to find is a covert rebel group hiding underground…one that’s led by a stunning nephilim who unmistakably belongs to him.

Ruby Miller has always known the angels who claim to protect humans have a hidden agenda. Ever since the day her father was killed by his own kind for protecting humans, she’s lived off the grid, determined to stop the angels from succeeding in their plot to destroy mankind. Then she meets Jason, a sexy fallen angel who claims she’s his mate. Falling in love is not part of her plan. If only she could deny the sizzling attraction that pulls them closer together.

As the Fallen and Ruby’s gang of rebels work together to gain proof of the angels’ nefarious plans, she must decide whether to stay focused on her mission…or surrender to the sweet ecstasy of this angel’s unforgettable kiss.

Today I’d like to share what inspired me to go underground this time.

As I started plotting out Angel’s Kiss, I knew my heroine would be part of a rebel group focused on stopping the angels. I also knew I wanted her in New York City, close to the Tribunal headquarters. But I didn’t want her too close, and since she knows about the angels’ true agenda, she’s going to be a little nervous about hiding in plain sight. That’s when I started wondering, what if they were underground? I remembered from my time growing up in NYC that there are abandoned subway tunnels, so that’s where I started my research. Before long, I stumbled onto this:

Turns out there’s an old, 1800s subway tunnel beneath the streets of Brooklyn. It was rediscovered in the 1980s, and the man who found it has conducted tours of the tunnel. (For further information, you can visit here, which is where I borrowed these fantastic images from: http://www.brooklynrail.net/proj_aatunnel.html#tour_photos). As you can see, this is the perfect fodder for paranormal fiction!

I’ve taken artistic liberties with the location, background, and dimensions of the tunnel, but I thought you might like to see one of the places that inspired this next round of the Fallen Warriors. 🙂

In other news, the mass market re-release of Mark of the Sylph has been pushed back to March 26, 2013, but the price of the paperback has dropped considerably, to just $9.68 at Barnes & Noble, or $10.19 at Amazon! It’s available for Pre-Order now, so if you feel so inclined, just click on one of the links to reserve your copy!

Until next time, happy reading!
