Romance Madness Hop!

romancehop2013Update: The winner of the Rafflecopter giveaway is Tracey Dent! Thanks so much to everyone for participating. I loved hearing about your fave books!

Welcome to The Romance Reviews’ Romance Madness Hop, which will last from January 25th. 12:00am EST until January 29, 11:59pm EST. This means you can space all your hopping out over a span of 5 days!

The theme of the hop is romances we love, so of course I want to share my favorite romance of all time!

I’ve been an avid romance reader since the age of 13, which means I have a good couple of decades of romance under my belt. Needless to say, picking just one favorite romance is mighty damn hard to do! But of all the books I’ve read, there’s one that stands out more than the rest, one romance which I go back to time and again whenever I want to re-experience that feeling of falling in love. For me, it’s To Tame a Highland Warrior, by Karen Marie Moning.

bcv_to-tameLike most of my favorite romances, this book features paranormal elements. The hero, Grimm, is born into a family of Berserkers. He leaves his ancestral home after a horrifying massacre that he believes his father caused in a Berserker rage. Due to his “curse”, he doesn’t believe himself worth of the heroine’s love. So he sets out to guard (and love) her from afar, never believing she could belong to him. This gives the book a tortured Beauty and the Beast sort of vibe that I find absolutely irresistible.

The heroine, Jillian, doesn’t know about Grimm’s past or his curse, but she does know one thing. He’s the only man she’s ever loved. And she’s determined to make him her own.

I admit I’m a total sucker for Beauty and the Beast themes. In fact, you’ll catch a hint of that in my book, Blood of the Demon, Book 1 in my Demons of Infernum series. The hero, Keegan, is a half demon, interdimensional bounty hunter who’s determined not to give in to his attraction to psychometric art gallery owner. Not only because of his half demon heritage, but also because he may be forced to kill her in order to save the world. Here’s a little more on the story:

BotD-500pxBLOOD OF THE DEMON, Book 1,

Demons of Infernum

Keegan lives to exact revenge on the evil demon who sired and abused him. When his father devises a plan to bring on the apocalypse, he and his three half-brothers, interdimensional bounty hunters for the Elden Council, are charged with capturing and delivering their father for punishment.

Art gallery owner Brynn Meyers has no idea that her ability to read memories embedded in objects and drain people of their life force means she has demon ancestry. Unfortunately for Brynn, she’s also the key to raising an ancient zombie army, which puts her on every demon’s Most Wanted List.

And no one wants her more than Keegan’s father.

Keegan must protect Brynn from his father by any means necessary, but he’ll have to learn to harness the other half of his genetics—the far deadlier, uncontrollable half—when he starts to fall for the one woman standing between him and the vengeance he so desperately seeks. The one woman he’ll never be able to resist.

And coming soon:

MotS-500pxMARK OF THE SYLPH, Book 2,

Demons of Infernum

Half-demon Taeg is desperate to free his pregnant sister-in-law, who is spellbound to an indestructible book that will create an army of the undead. He is convinced that an ancient sword can destroy the book and the spell forever, but this relic has been hidden for a millennia by a powerful glamour. The clock begins to run out on his search when an old rival goes after the book and Taeg’s family in his quest for revenge.

Librarian Maya Flores has a secret: she’s immune to magic and is well aware of the supernatural beings prowling the streets of New York City. Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.

Maya is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword. Unfortunately, she wants nothing more than to kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth that not all demons are evil. And the worst part? She might be falling in love with one, too.

I really enjoyed Karen Marie Moning’s Highlanders as well! The series had just enough ‘other’ to keep my interest and the love stories were touching.

Shanna by Woodiwiss holds a special place as it was the first romance novel that I read (other than harliquin serials that my mom brought home from work) but Woodiwiss’ Wolf & the Dove is the closest I come to a favorite — I’ve reread so many times over the years that I know it pratically by heart & always brings a smile to my lips

    Hi Rosalie,
I like Karen Marie Moning’s books too. Like many of the fans before me, I have favorite authors and it doesn’t really matter what the series is or what subgenre of romance they write for, I always gravitate to them like Jane Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick, Lisa Kleypas, Christina Dodd, Patricia Bracewell, and Jennifer Nielsen. Maybe it’s a woman thing — you are attracted to the voice that the author uses and you become hooked on that author.for the rest of your life pretty much.

I agree, Susan. It’s all about the voice.

Hi Rosalie, I absolutely loved Grimm’s story as well as all her Highlander books. LOVE them. My all time favorite isn’t a full romance because of all the History too but Outlander by Diana Gabaldon is the tops. I love, love Jamie and Claire’s story. Your books look pretty awesome Rosalie and I look forward to reading them. Some pretty gorgeous covers too. 🙂 Signed up for your newsletter.

I really don’t have an “all time favorite” romance. I love anything by Eloisa James — and I also love Chess and Terrible from Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series.
